There’s A Lot Going On At Presbytery Meetings!

This month’s Presbytery began with a worship service to remind the Presbyters that they are there not to just “do business” but to do the business of the Lord. In everything, we belong to the Lord to serve as Jesus served.  All present prayed for the committees below and 2 candidates sought licensure.

Phyllis Conrad was recognized for her dedication to the Palmetto Presbytery Women’s Ministry, and she gave a report from the ministry. There was a wonderful lunch to extend the time of fellowship, too.

Teaching Elder Scott Dinkins (Chapin PCA) preached from Philippians 3:12-20.

12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

17 Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. 18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

He offered 3 things to think about…

A HEALTHY HUMBLE SELF-ASSESSMENT – It matters to the Lord how we think of Him.  Do we have a right view of the sin in our lives?
A SERIOUS PRESSING ON – Focus on today and what is important – the opportunities and what is to come.  Do you dwell on things in your past making them hard to let go of?
A FOCUSED GAZE – Keep our eyes on Him together to love and nurture each other.  Jesus is coming back one day, and our minds should be set on eternity. Where is your gaze? Your hope?

As you pray for our Denomination this year, remember those Presbyters who serve in your churches.  Pray for their wisdom and godliness as they meet to make decisions within our Palmetto Presbytery region.  Pray that they will keep their eyes on Him together to love and nurture each other.  Please also pray for the women in our churches and for the PresWM Leadership Team members: phyllis Conrad (Grace Point), Kelly Lewis (Lexington), Karen pope (Lebanon-being installed 3/11/23), and Lauren DIllard (New Covenant Aiken – being installed 3/11/23)
